Draft legislation to enable Estonia to participate in the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and unitary patent system and also in the UPC’s Nordic-Baltic regional division (with Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania) was discussed yesterday in its first reading in the Riigikogu (Estonian parliament) and will now proceed to a second reading. As reported here, the draft legislation is in the form of two bills: one bill to authorise Estonia’s ratification of both the UPC Agreement and the Agreement on a UPC Nordic-Baltic regional division and the other bill to make the necessary amendments to national law.
