In its cabinet meeting on 15 January 2016, the Luxembourg government approved the bill concerning the agreement to base the Court of Appeal of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) in Luxembourg. This removes a small formal hurdle in the way of the establishment of the UPC (expected in early 2017). It should be reiterated, however, that the location of the Court in Luxembourg (probably very near the CJEU) does not imply any connection with the CJEU. The UPC is a separate non-EU court system.
