As reported here, the Budget Committee of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) recently held its inaugural meeting. The Budget Committee is one of the three governing bodies of the UPC (now the provisional application of the UPC Agreement has started), the others being the Administrative Committee (which met on 22 February, see here) and the Advisory Committee. In its meeting (on 23 February), the Budget Committee adopted not only its Rules of Procedure but also the Court’s budget for the provisional application phase, and countries taking part in this phase will be called to make their first contribution to the budget. These contributions will be important for making the final preparations for the opening of the Court.
