The Netherlands passes law ratifying the UPC Agreement

28.06.2016

Today, the Eerste Kamer (the first chamber of the Dutch parliament, i.e. the Senate) approved the bill to enable the Netherlands to ratify the UPC Agreement.  Now the Senate has approved the bill it becomes law.  However, the Netherlands must deposit its instrument of ratification with the Council of the EU for the ratification to have effect.  If it does so, it will join ten other countries (here) but the UPC Agreement still requires the UK and Germany to do so in order for the Agreement to come into force.  The UPC Preparatory Committee is meeting this Thursday, 30 June 2016.
