Slovenian law to ratify the UPC Agreement officially published

07.10.2016

As reported earlier this week (here), legislation enabling Slovenia to ratify the Agreement on a Unified Patent Court recently received presidential assent following its approval by the Slovenian parliament.  The legislative process was formally brought to completion this afternoon, when the final text of the law was published in the Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia (here).

The Slovenian government is therefore now entitled to deposit its instrument of ratification with the Council of the EU, the final step required for the ratification to have effect.  The government is expected to fulfil this requirement in the following weeks, after announcing its intention to deliver a swift ratification at last week’s meeting of the EU Competitiveness Council.
