To opt a European patent out of the jurisdiction of the new Unified Patent Court (UPC), the proprietors must submit an Opt-out Application via the UPC Case Management and eFiling system.  This system is in the latter stages of development and the beta test site can be accessed here.  The updates to the system released this week include a “basket” for lodging multiple opt-out applications at once.  Work has also started on developing APIs to allow users to interface directly with the system, one of which will support bulk opt-out requests. It is expected to be available in late April 2016.
