Draft UPC legislation reaches final stage in Scottish parliamentary process

18.10.2017

Following its meeting on 26 September 2017 (reported here), the Scottish Parliament’s Justice Committee has reported to the Parliament that it recommends approval of the draft Statutory Instrument which will confer certain devolved privileges and immunities on the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and its Judges, Registrar and other staff.   The Committee reported on 6 October, i.e. well within its deadline of 29 October.  The Parliament is now in recess (from 7 October to 22 October inclusive), but the next step is for the Parliamentary Bureau to propose by motion that the Parliament agrees to approve the draft legislation.
