Bulgarian parliament adopts bill to ratify UPC Provisional Application Protocol

06.06.2018

The National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria (the unicameral parliament) has reported here that in its plenary session today it adopted the bill to ratify the Unified Patent Court (UPC) Agreement’s Protocol on Provisional Application (PPA).  Under the Bulgarian legislative procedure,  a bill must be debated and voted on twice by the National Assembly in order to be adopted;  although usually this takes place in two different sessions, if in the first debate there are no proposals to amend the bill, both votes may take place in the same session, and that was the case today. The law will now be sent to the President to issue a decree for promulgation, and be promulgated by publication in the State Gazette.
