Having been adopted last week by the National Assembly, the legislation required to authorise Bulgaria to ratify the UPC Agreement has today been enacted – the ‘Law on Ratification of the Agreement on the Unified Patent Court’ being published in the Bulgarian State Gazette (No.32/2016).  Bulgaria had informed the Preparatory Committee at last week’s meeting that it expected to be in a position to ratify by the end of this month.  Therefore, it is expected that Bulgaria will shortly deposit its instrument of ratification in Brussels with the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU (as required for the ratification to have effect), in which case it will become the 10th country to do so.
