The UPC website has reported that Germany has deposited its ratification of the UPC Agreement, starting the formal countdown process to the initiation of the sunrise period on 1 March (for opting out patents from the new system and lodging representatives’ credentials with the new Court’s registry) and the opening of the Court itself for business on 1 June. The accompanying unitary patent system will therefore also come into effect on 1 June.
