Bill to ratify UPC Provisional Application Protocol progresses in Bulgarian parliament

31.05.2018

The National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria (the unicameral parliament) has reported here that yesterday its Committee on Legal Affairs voted unanimously that the National Assembly adopt a bill to ratify the Unified Patent Court (UPC) Agreement’s Protocol on Provisional Application (PPA).  The next step is for the National Assembly to debate and vote on the bill.  The bill had been submitted to the National Assembly by the Council of Ministers on 21 May 2018 (reported here) and was presented in yesterday’s meeting by the Minister of the Economy.  It was noted that Bulgaria had ratified the UPC Agreement on 8 April 2016, and that the PPA had been signed on behalf of the government on 11 September 2017 subject to ratification.
