Bill to ratify UPC Agreement submitted to Dutch parliament

03.03.2016

Draft legislation in the form of a bill (here, in Dutch) to enable the Netherlands to ratify the UPC Agreement has been submitted to the Tweede Kamer der Staten-General (the second chamber of the Dutch Parliament), i.e. the House of Representatives.  The House of Representatives may adopt, reject or amend a bill, and for a bill to become law it must also be adopted by the Eerste Kamer (first chamber), i.e. the Senate. The bill proposes to adopt the UPC Agreement for the European part of the Netherlands.  The Dutch government consulted last year on legislation required to implement the UPC Agreement and the Unitary Patent Regulation into national law (by amending the Patents Act 1995).
