In its meeting last week, the EPO Select Committee discussed the administrative and IT aspects of implementation of the Unitary patent system, having last December finalised a suite of rules for the system. Issues discussed included the transfer of data on Unitary patent protection between the EPO and national patent offices and the distribution of Unitary patent renewal fee income to participating member states.  Work on this will continue with a workshop with IT experts from the member states in May 2016.  The Committee published a report of the meeting yesterday, stating that its next meeting will be in September 2016.
