UPC Review of the Year

Publication and video series

In our inaugural UPC Review of the Year publication, we explore the significant changes brought by the UPC since it opened on 1 June 2023, impacting patent litigation across 18 European states.

Bristows has been a key player in the UPC's development, contributing to the Rules of Procedure and leading commentary on the Court’s evolution over the past decade. Our team, which includes 16 UPC representatives and European qualified lawyers supported by a broader team of over 50 patent litigators, offers unparalleled experience in European litigation strategy, technical expertise, and commercial insight, making us uniquely equipped to support your UPC needs.

Our UPC Review explores the case law emerging from the first 18 months of the new system and covers essential topics such as claim construction, infringement, preliminary injunctions and the doctrine of equivalents. It also analyses the UPC's approach to validity, the early FRAND decisions and procedural aspects such as bifurcation, parallel proceedings, transparency and confidentiality.

Whether you are a legal professional, a patent holder or interested in European patent law, our UPC Review provides valuable insights and practical guidance on the UPC's role in shaping the future of patent litigation in Europe.
